Join Sam Golden for a 3 week introduction to Western Swing! We’ll go over a brief history of Western Swing, learn some of the most popular melodies, and try some basic techniques for harmonizing with other fiddle players and soloing in the Western Swing style. Bring your instrument and - if it helps you learn - a recording device (cellphone) or a notebook and pencil.

Sam Golden is a multi-instrumentalist, arranger, producer and recording engineer based in St. Louis. Sam is a classically trained violinist with a degree in music composition. He founded Holiday Heart recording studio in 2020, where he has written, arranged, and recorded music for rock bands, big bands, plays, podcasts, and film. Sam is also active in the St. Louis live music scene, where he has collaborated with artists like Beth Bombara, Ryan Koenig, and Nick Gusman. His own band, Fiddlin' Sam and the Bolo Band, specializes in Western Swing.
